Fetch Privacy Policy

Effective: 26 September 2026

This policy explains what the Fetch app collects, why, who else handles it, and how you control it. It applies to the Fetch iPhone app and to fetchapp.co (together, "Fetch").

The short version

1. Who we are

Fetch is made by Cloud 9 Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong that trades as Cloud 9 Labs ("we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data. Under GDPR and UK GDPR we are the "controller", and under Hong Kong law we are the "data user".

2. What we collect

Things you give us

What Details
Account details Your email address, if you sign up with email. If you use Sign in with Apple, we get the email Apple shares with us. This may be a private relay address. We do not ask Apple for your name. We also record when you accepted these terms.
Your dog's profile Name, sex, breed, date of birth (or an approximate age), whether your dog came from a shelter or rescue, and weight entries if you add them.
Your answers during setup and later Things like what your dog can already do, what you want to work on, what rewards your dog likes, whether you use spoken or hand cues, and who else trains your dog. We also ask a few safety questions: whether your dog guards things, has mouthed or bitten, or has had a recent health change. These answers help us fit advice to your dog, and they send you to a vet or a qualified behaviour professional when we should not coach.
Training videos and their sound The videos you film in the app or pick from your photo library, including the sound recorded with them.
Notes Anything you type about a training session.
Logs and check-ins Housetraining, socialisation, walk and practice logs, your check-in answers, your training schedule, saved items, and topics you ask us to cover.
Messages to us What you send to support@fetchapp.co.
Cancellation feedback If you cancel, the reasons you choose and anything you type.

Things Fetch creates

What Details
Feedback and progress What our system writes about each video: what it saw, one thing to change, exercises, before-and-after comparisons, skill progress and level. It also records whether you read or rated the feedback.
A Fetch ID A random ID made on your phone the first time you open Fetch. Your data is filed under it. If you later sign in on another device, we keep your older IDs linked, so nothing you filmed is lost.

Things we collect automatically

What Details
App usage Which screens you open, which steps you finish, and summary facts such as how many videos you have filmed. These go to our analytics provider with some profile facts (your dog's breed and age band, the issues you picked, how many people train the dog, and how you heard about Fetch).
Device and technical data Device model, iOS version, app version, language, time zone, and the IP address your requests come from. Our analytics and subscription providers use the IP address to work out a rough country or region.
Push notification token Only if you allow notifications.
Subscription status Whether you subscribe, your plan, trial and renewal dates, and the transaction records Apple and Superwall send us. We never see your card or bank details. Apple takes the payment.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health data or browsing history. We do not use advertising IDs, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and there are no ads in Fetch. Your in-app searches are not stored. We do not use a crash-reporting service.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

GDPR and UK GDPR require a legal basis for each use. Here are ours.

Why Legal basis
Run your account, save your plan, sync it across devices, and sign you in with a code or Apple Performing our contract with you
Analyse your videos, notes and dog profile to write your feedback, exercises and progress Performing our contract with you
Send the notifications you allowed (feedback ready, reminders, check-ins, weekly summaries) Performing our contract with you. iOS asks for your permission first.
Run subscriptions, free trials and restores Performing our contract with you
Quality and safety checks: now and then a member of our team reviews feedback Fetch wrote, usually when something went wrong, to make sure it is right and safe Our legitimate interest in giving correct and safe advice. You can say no (see section 7).
Understand how the app is used so we can fix confusing parts Our legitimate interest in improving Fetch. You can object by email.
Keep Fetch secure, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms Our legitimate interest in protecting Fetch and its users
Answer your messages Our legitimate interest, or our contract with you
Keep records the law requires and respond to lawful requests Legal obligation

We do not:

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the service providers below, and only so they can run Fetch for us. Each one handles it under a contract or its published data-processing terms.

Provider What they do for us What they get
Supabase, Inc. Database, file storage, sign-in and server code. Hosted on Amazon Web Services in the US East (N. Virginia) region. Everything listed in section 2 that is stored on our side.
Google LLC (Gemini API) Watches each video and writes what it sees. Then writes the feedback. The video and its sound, sent through a link that expires. Also your note, your dog's name, age, sex, breed and weight, your training and safety answers, what you said your dog can do, and earlier feedback for the same skill. Not your email address.
Groq, Inc. Turns speech in the video into text, so we can time your cues. The video, sent through a link that expires.
Amplitude, Inc. Product analytics. Your Fetch ID, app usage events, the profile facts listed in section 2, cancellation feedback, and device data and IP address.
Superwall, Inc. Shows the subscription screen and keeps track of your subscription. Your Fetch ID, purchase and subscription events, basic setup answers used to choose which offer to show, and device data.
Apple Inc. Takes payments and manages subscriptions. Runs Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications. Your purchase, your Apple sign-in, and your push token. Apple handles these under its own privacy policy.
Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) Sends push notifications to Apple for delivery. Your push token and the text of each notification.
Resend, Inc. Sends the sign-in code emails. Your email address and the code email.

About the AI services. Google and Groq process your video to give us a result. Under their terms for the paid services we use, Google does not use your videos or our prompts to improve its products, and Groq does not keep them by default. Both may keep them briefly to catch abuse or fix faults (Google Gemini API terms, Groq: Your Data). We cannot delete what they hold for you. We send them no email address or name of yours.

Other times we may share data:

5. Where your data is stored

We are based in Hong Kong. Your data is stored in the United States (Supabase, on AWS in N. Virginia). Our other providers mostly process it in the United States, and some may process it in other countries where they have facilities. If you are in the EU, the UK or somewhere else with transfer rules, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum), adequacy decisions such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified, or other safeguards the law allows. Email us for a copy of the safeguards that apply.

6. How long we keep it

What How long
Your videos (on our side) Until you delete that session's video or delete your account. Nothing expires automatically.
Your videos (on your phone) The copy Fetch saved for upload is cleared once the upload is confirmed. Videos you picked from your photo library stay in your library.
Feedback, logs, check-ins, progress, dog profile, answers Until you delete your account. Deleting a single video keeps the feedback and progress that came from it.
Account and email Until you delete your account.
Push token Until you delete your account. It stops working if you turn notifications off.
Records of who on our team viewed a video Until you delete your account.
Analytics (Amplitude) Kept by Amplitude under your Fetch ID. After you delete your account, that ID is erased everywhere else, so nothing links these events to you.
Subscription records at Apple and Superwall Kept by them for as long as they need to run billing, refunds and their own legal duties.
Emails with us As long as needed to deal with your request, and no more than three years after our last contact.

If you use Fetch without making an account, your data is kept under your Fetch ID until you delete it in the app.

7. Your choices and rights

In the app, with no email needed

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Only Apple can cancel it: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

By email

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, California and other US states, or Hong Kong), you may have the right to:

Email support@fetchapp.co from the address on your account, or include your Fetch ID (shown in your data export). We may need to confirm it is you. We answer within one month. For California residents, we answer within 45 days. An authorised agent may ask for you if we can confirm they act for you.

Complaints. You can complain to your local data protection authority. That might be an EU supervisory authority, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or Hong Kong's Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data. Please tell us first so we can try to fix it.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your videos are in private storage, and each account can only reach its own data. When an AI service needs a video, it gets a link that expires. Only named members of our team can use the review tool. Every time one of them opens a video, the tool logs who opened it and why. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities when the law requires it.

9. Children

Fetch is for adults training their dogs. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
